It’s a light schedule for the final week of regular-season college football, but these are the games that will determine just how much each team’s next game will mean. Will they be playing in a mid-level bowl as the runner-up in a conference or will they rise to the top of the bowl pyramid? Yes, the championship games are the ones that are most exciting this weekend, but the true bettors are keeping an eye on the trends with every game on the board — even the ones that don’t have "Championship Game" attached to them.
We turn to Drew Martin of SportsBookReview.com to help identify the betting value in both the big games and the "duds" that could boost your bankroll.
AAC Championship Game: Memphis at UCF (-7, Over/Under 82)
Central Florida has scored 30 or more points in all 11 games and is averaging 48.3 points per game. Head coach Scott Frost, QB McKenzie Milton and company are fresh off putting up 350 rushing yards against rival USF. The Memphis offense is potent as well, averaging 47 points per game, but the Tigers defense is not as effective, letting up 350 yards on the ground last time these two played on Sept. 30 with UCF winning, 40-13.
Look for more of the same Saturday and make sure to shop for a good number with the best betting sites because the Knights are favored, hovering around the key number of -7. This is very likely Frost’s penultimate game helming UCF, but this team is far from playing out the chain. They are fighting for a big spot in the prime-time bowl games.
Georgia Southern Eagles at Coastal Carolina Chanticleers (+2.5 O/U 53)
Coastal Carolina is in the midst of a rough first season in FBS. The Chanticleers are currently 2-9 straight up and 4-7 against the spread year to date. Georgia Southern is also 2-9 this year, although they have shown a spark since naming Chad Lunsford head coach. The players have played hard for him and covered the spread by over 70 points in their last two games.
